My name is Raven Matthews and I am a product of the public school system in the United States (Hello, Raven.) I am currently a student in the GeauxTeach program at Louisiana State University. I hope that this blog will serve as a record of what I experience as a student in an English education program, as well as how I am slowly learning to "connect the dots" as I traverse the universe of pedagogy and education philosophy.
I created this blog as an assignment for Dr. Peckham, my professor in a course in which we examine "motives for writing." Initially I intended this blog to be solely a project for his class where I could write about my interpretations of the works we are examining in his class, particularly those of John Dewey, Ronald Strickland, Gary Tate, Jane Tompkins, and Paulo Freire. However, I realized that this blog could serve as personal road map of my experiences with literacy and education..I am hoping to use this blog to record my experiences and hopefully pull some type of knowledge out of my writing.
